Do you like writing about whatever is on your mind? Do you think your thoughts would be interesting to your fellow students? If so, you’d be a great student blogger on the ALC website! We’re looking for between 5-10 students from any grade level to blog about their experiences and life on the ALC website. If you’re interested, see Mr. Martin-Rowe in room 4007. DONTMISSOUTCHALK

Well on todays news were going to talk about how ALC teachers are not doing their jobs. The program AVID is doing far worst than previous years. As a whole school the graduation rate has gone down. I thought that the teachers were going to get together to come up with a good plan to get students motivated but instead they have made things far worst. By making student take classes like Calculus they have made even some of their 3.0 students angry. Some of them were getting straight A’s but when they took the Calculus class their GPA went down. Some even failed the class and fell less motivated to go to college. I leave a last commnent for the teachers that have been their since the school open. I would like them to remember the first goals they had when the school open and then I would like them to ask the question “As to what happened wrong or what went wrong with the goals or plans they had for the students and the school?”

Also if who ever is reading this blog doesn’t post it up. At least led the teachers read it as it was written for them or discuss it amongst each other when you have teacher conferences.

    Until next time

My comment to Unknown: AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Students who need their teachers to motivate them to succeed and who shy away from college level classes are not individually determined. The goal that the ALC staff set out to achieve this is year is to help our students be ready for college. A college student will need to be self motivated and be willing to take classes that are challenging. If our students are not prepared to take the classes that are college level, then they are not ready to advance. Maybe the teachers have not done their job. What should we do? Make our classes easy so that more students get straight A’s? Do the work for the student’s so that they succeed without any effort of their own? Give some advice.
